LOUČENÍ means “goodbye”, goodbye with tourism year and it’s name of the race organized in Czech Republic in mid-November. There are not many ultra-races organized in Europe in the fourth quarter of the year. In late autumn days are short here, it’s cold, usually rains, sometime it snows. Actually, this race is one of the latest but not the latest one organized in Czech Republic during the year.
LOUČENÍ is quite long and mountainous – the distance is about 170 kilometres with positive elevation gain of about 7600 meters and it’s running through Central Bohemian Uplands (Czech: České středohoří) close to Ústí nad Labem, big industrial city in the north of Czech Republic.
The race is divided in 2 stages:
- Stage 1: 55 kilometres of distance / 2400 meters of positive elevation gain
Start: Těchlovice rozcestí, Friday 20th November, 5:15 a.m.
Finish: Ústí nad Labem, Friday 20th November, 9:30 a.m.
- Stage 2:
Part 1: 45 kilometres of distance / 2421 meters of positive elevation gain,
Part 2: 70 kilometres of distance / 3042 meters of positive elevation gain.

Do you want to finish whole route or only part? It’s your choice. You have also many other shorter variants to choose. The shortest one is 10 kilometres of distance.
If you decide to take part in stage 1 and stage 2 and you are going to do it running even not all the time, you can expect a lot of time for leisure after first 55 kilometres of the race – You have up tu 16 hours to do parts.
I participated in LOUČENÍ last year and my impressions are very good – the route was beautiful. I remember cone-shaped mountains and glow of a big city lights visible from above.
Due the route that is different this year I will present route description and provide some pictures after the race.
